Artist Bio
Robert Grieve, born in Melbourne in 1924 was a significant figure in Australian art, with a distinctly individual style.
He was active as an artist for 55 years until his passing in 2006, Grieve’s work was very different from the other artists of his generation including his close friends Fred Williams, John Olsen and Sam Fullbrook.
Robert Grieve was amongst the first generation of Australian abstract artists.
His work is held in major institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
