Robert Grieve, born in Melbourne in 1924 was a significant figure in Australian art, with a distinct individual style. Active for 55 years until his passing in 2006, Grieve’s work was distinctly different from other artists of his generation and close friends Fred williams, John Olsen and Sam Fullbrook. Robert Grieve was amongst the first generation of Australian abstract artists.
His work is held in major instituations including the National Gallery of Australia, public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
