Description
CIBACHROME
Cibachrome prints are direct prints from slides (transparency film), and do not go through any digital process, therefore no digital manipulation has been done to it.
Cibachrome is considered to be the highest quality archival photographic material available. It has a rich lustrous finish, giving an almost iridescent 3D realism. Unlike other print material, the chemistry doesn’t make the colour. Azo dyes, which provide stable vivid colours, are imbedded into the paper at manufacture. The layers of cyan, magenta and yellow dye are so pure and intense that a black layer is unnecessary. After exposure and subsequent processing, any surplus colour is bleached away, leaving a pure dye image with no chemical residues.
Each photograph is hand printed in Sydney by a specialist who prints the works of many world famous photographers. There are only a few professional Cibachrome labs left in the world nowadays as it is not being manufactured anymore. Unfortunately, there is only a very limited amount of stock left and it will not be long before Cibachrome prints are no longer available.
