Description
Lucian Freud was a German born British artist and the grandson of renowned Austrian psychologist Sigmund Freud. Regarded as one of the per-eminent British artists of his time Freud was best known for his thickly impasto portraits and figure paintings.
During the last twenty five years of his career Freud produced numerous etchings, a process which amply demonstrates his fine draftsmanship. Freud’s etchings were the subject of a major exhibition, Lucian Freud: The Painters Etchings at the Museum of Modern art in New York which ran from December 2007 to March 2008.
