Product Description

Born in Eaglemont, Victoria in 1913, Hayward Veal commenced art classes at the age of 17 with with Archibald Colquhoun, this was followed by classes with Colquhoun’s own mentor, Max Meldrum. In 1951 Veal left Australia and went to Europe where he settled in Reigate, Surry ans quickly gained an international reputation.

Veal later described his work as “perceptual impressionism,” replacing conceptual knowledge about “things” with perceptual knowledge about the subject’s tones, colours and shapes. Hayward Veal is represented in prominant worldwide public and private collections.
