Description

Born in Ballarat, Victoria in 1922, Coleman studied art at the Royal Institute of Technology. His distinctive stylised figures and backgrounds combined with earthly colours make Coleman’s work very Australian.

A major retrospective exhibition in 1986 at the Bendigo, Ballarat and Sale galleries brought Coleman’s work critical acclaim.

Coleman’s work is represented in the New York Public Library and in regional public and private collections throughout Australia.
