An eminent Australian painter, Michael Taylor was born in 1933 and lives and works in Cooma NSW. He has been exhibiting regularly since 1963. His work is held in a number of important collections including the National Gallery of Australia, all the state galleries in Australia and numerous regional, institutional and corporate collections including; the Philip Morris collection, BHP Billiton, Artbank, the Joye Art Foundation and the RACV collection.
Taylor has participated in numerous international and Australian exhibitions since gaining a diploma in painting from the East Sydney Technical College in 1953, including the Biennale des Jeunes, Paris (1963); Contemporary Australian Painting, Los Angeles (1966) ; Australian Art Today, touring South-East Asia (1969); Ten Australians, touring Europe (1974/75); Landscape and Abstraction, Nolan Gallery (1986); I had a dream, NGV (1996); and more recently, Moist, NGA (2005), Fireworks, touring QLD, NSW and VIC regional galleries (2005) Exhibition Swing of collages at the Canberra Museum and Gallery (2006).
